Hi everyone! I new here to the forum but not new to Hide My IP software.

I used to have the 2008 version on my old computer & it worked fine.

I recently bought a new computer and bought the 2009 version. This new pc has Windows Vista 64 bit.

I'm having trouble w/the 2009 version. I can open the program and it runs fine - I'm able to get a "fake" IP addy. But I haven't been able to get any sites to load in Firefox. Also, sometimes a tab appears in my taskbar thing at the bottom titled "Proxy". I can't open it or even right click to close.

Is there a prob w/running Hide My IP 2009 on a new pc w/Vista 64?

I'm a bit "technologically challenged" so please break it way down to me:)

If you need more info on my pc stats or whatever, just let me know.

Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hide My IP is compatible with Vista 64 and compatible with the Officially Released (not beta) version of Window 7.

When a site does not load and you're using the 2009 version, it may be the encryption check off that is causing the problem. You don't need to encrypt your connection in order to hide your IP. We have a fix.
Go to this link: http://www.hide-my-ip.com/o.shtml

The proxy box issue shows up after an unpgrade to Firefox 3.5 + if that upgrade was done while Hide My IP was already installed. It is a bug with Firefox.

To get rid of the proxy windows, uninstall Firefox; uninstall Hide My IP; restart computer; install Firefox and then reinstall Hide My IP.

Hi again!

I went tothis link and clicked the first link on that page to download Microsoft Visual C++ 2008. That worked fine. But when I attempted to run the file, I was prompted to either repair or uninstall. Which do I want to do? smile.gif

Remember, I'm not good at any of this tech stuff! I'm not even sure doing all this will solve my prob, but it's worth a try.

Will installing that Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 and the other program, OpenSSL, do anything "bad" to my new computer? I'm always a bit ssssssscared to install new stuff:)

The prob I'm having is that no sites will load using Hide My IP 2009 - as stated in my first post.

Thanks in advance!

You want to install and you want to make sure that your settings are as stated here:

I understand that, but when I attempt to install the Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package (x86) I am prompted with just TWO options - REPAIR or UNINSTALL. What should I do?

Thanks again!!!

Hope you had a great weekend!

Ok, so I just completed steps 1 - 3 at http://www.hide-my-ip.com/o.shtml and I was able to get some sites to load - like cnn.com, amazon.com, but I still CANNOT get yahoo mail to load. I CAN get yahoo.com to load - slowly - but the login page for email will not load. Firefox says "done" in the lower left corner but the page is all white.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!!!

As the sign says, download/install the latest security packs. Also, after a repair like that, you should completely exit the software, reboot the computer and then reactivate the software.

Doug,

Thanks again for the fast reply.

Ok I will install the latest security packs. But, how do I reactivate the software? And which software..HideMyIP? How do I do that?

Thanks so much!

Hi again - I'm having trouble finding a link to download and install the latest service packs and security updates for Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable. Can you help? smile.gif

Not sure if this is important, but I am using Vista 64 bit. I know I mentioned that earlier, but when I installed that Open SSL thing, I remember seeing something about 32 bit.

Hi again...sorry to keep posting before getting answers. I would have just edited my earlier post but I don't see that option.

So I followed the steps at http://www.hide-my-ip.com/o.shtml but I have not yet reactivated anything because I'm not sure exactly how to do that. But after following those steps, I rebooted & ran HideMyIP. I am able to access everything EXCEPT the login page for yahoo email.

Any other ideas?

I can access gmail & amazon.com, cnn, etc, but I cannot get the yahoo email log in page to load. It's just blank white.

Thanks again smile.gif I appreciate all the help:)

OH, here are two screen shots of HideMyIP. Do I need to change any settings:

OH, here are two screen shots of HideMyIP. Do I need to change any settings:

1. You need to either activate your Microsoft Updates on your computer or go to the Microsoft website to find the available updates for your computer.

2. Not sure what you mean by "can't access" Yahoo. We've tested that page many times with encryption on and have not had an issue with it.

3. I deleted one of your graphics because it was exposing what your real IP is. I also merged your posts.

4. Your settings appear to be correct.

I'm pretty sure my Microsoft updates are set to automatic. How can I check?

By "can't access" I mean, the page does not load. While running HideMyIP, all sites seem to run normally, meaning, they load - a bit more slowly - but they load. When I type in Yahoo.com in my address bar, that page loads properly. But when I click the link to go to Yahoo Mail OR go to https://login.yahoo.com/config/mail?.intl=us directly (this is set as my homepage when I open FireFox) those pages will NOT load - they just appear totally white. No text, no image, nothing. And yet FireFox shows "Done" in the lower left corner. I am able to load other email sites like gmail & hotmail. But Yahoo mail will not load.

Thanks for deleting the pics I posted w/my info! OMG! I am a bit of an airhead:) And thanks for merging:)

So, I'm just not sure what to do about this Yahoo email thing.

Any other ideas? smile.gif Thanks again for all the help!

I took this screen shot of FireFox - does everything look ok there?

Thanks again

Hi! I'm back:)

Since I was having NO luck with Hide My IP 2009, I uninstalled it & reinstalled 2008 and I'm able to access the sites that I couldn't with 2009. I sure wish I could have figured out what the prob was. I hate it that I paid for 2009 but can't use it.

But I will still wait for more responses:) Maybe someone has some other ideas about why 2009 wouldn't work.

Thanks all....hope you all had a happy Halloween!

Please review this link for the proper settings for the 2009 version of Hide My IP. The encryption check off is the reason you were getting "white pages" from certain web sites: http://www.hide-my-ip.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=753

If you continue to have a problem with the encryption setting, the fix is here: To Fix Errors About an Ordinal Error (Encryption)

Step 1. Close Hide My IP by right clicking the Hide My IP task tray icon and go to Exit.

Step 2. Download and install the file , Microsoft Visual C++ 2008, from the link below.
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;displaylang=en

Step 3. Download and install OpenSSL from the link below.
http://www.slproweb.com/download/Win32Open...ight-0_9_8k.exe

Step 4. Run Hide My IP.

The above directions are also located at this URL: http://www.hide-my-ip.com/o.shtml
