Just thought I would post a note to inform people of a an issue. I have searched the forums and there is a post already but it didnt seem to be resolved and I could'nt find a solution only some suggestions.

The problem is this:
I use this set up to watch UK TV when I am abroad, I am a licene payer etc.

Machine runing Vista Ultimate or Business or something (the top level)
HMIP2008 Premium

HMIP works well and I can indeed watch the BBC Iplayer without issues, It doesnt work for Zattoo as it is P2P.

When HMIP is installed on my machine I cannot log onto to work exchange server at all!

Let me clarrify,
I am not trying to access the server through a proxy
I am not using HMIP
or any other get around
I have an ethernet cable direclty to my network.

HMIP is not running, the service is not not running, the process is not running.

I uninstalled HMIP and reinstalled, I didnt even get around to entering the licence key to ativate the software and i lost my server connection.
I uninstalled and the exchange connection restored itself.

I can only assume that HMIP affects the connections at a deep level somewhere in the depth of the OS?
Let me be clear I am not having a pop or complaining I am looking for help.

At present I cannot even install HMIP and so am forced to watch French TV.....for pity's sake someone offer me some advice.

On our website, there is a list of programs that are compatible with the Premium Service. That list can be found here:
http://www.hide-my-ip.com/compatibility.shtml
MS Exchange Server has never been on that list, nor do we represent that HMIP is compatible with Microsofts Exchange Server.

The software engineers are aware of the compatibility issue between Hide My IP and Microsoft's Exchange Server and continue to work on the issue.

Perhaps I was not clear in my previous post, I am not trying to make HMIP work with exchange or outlook or any other software.
Simply to be able to install it on a machine which has an outlook exchange mail acount, and of rit not to intefere with that account!

Surely if HMIP is not running, the service is off, the process is off it is not unreasonable to expect it not to effect the settings or connections of completly unrealated software or network connections.

I completely understand the compatibilty list, and the software therein, but the issue I am experiencing is not related to compatibility. it is related to the fact that the HMIP software penetrates the settings on the machine even when not in operation or even activated.

I appreciate the team is working on it and wait for the solution, in the mean time I continue to pay for something that is not useable for me with my corporate machine.

1. One of the nice things about Hide My IP is that it offers a free, 14 day trial in order to determine if issues like this will arise. And, of course, a review of this Forum also helps to know what is going on with the software before it is purchased.

2. An "outlook exchange mail acount" is the same thing as saying, or referring to, Microsoft's Exchange Server, as you need to have an Exchange Account in order to be able to connect to the Exchange Server.

3. Hide My IP Process does not go off, in the sense you're thinking about. Like other similar software, it has a process that never really goes "off".

4. The issue you are experiencing is related to compatibility. It is not a "fact" that "HMIP software penetrates the settings on the machine even when not in operation or even activated." That is not accurate. If Hide My IP had that much ability, I'd be comparing it to some of the nano-technology of the Borg! Hide My IP is good, but its not capable of doing that. At least not yet smile.gif

I read your reply with interest, and whilst I understand the issues, the response is somewhat lacking in a positive suggestion or what might be the next step.

I notice on the list of compatible software for the premium service OUTLOOK is present. This suggests that there is no compatiilty issues with the software, this I think is not really the case. It is probably ok for a pop3 mail account?

I cant find any reference to issues connecting an to an exchange server. As the exchange server connection runs through OUTLOOK (controlled through the 'mail' bit in contorl panel) and is not a seperate bit of software installed on local machines I would not have anticipated an issue. I am not trying to install on the server or anything running exchange services, this is client side.

Do you think is it unreasonable to expect HMIP to to interfere (if not penetrate) with connections when it is not active. It must in some way highjack settings or processes and control them even when it is not active. Forgive my terminology I am not an expert, merely a customer with a problem.

I hope you guys are working on this, it would be great to be able to install it on my new machine, and not just count down the months till my subscription runs out.

Thanks smile.gif
