I bought a brand new HP Pavillion notebook after swearing that my next computer would "be a mac!" Oooops I did it again. Stupid me. What made it an even dumber buy was that not only did it come with Microsoft's "Vista" (which still has all the kinks in it!) it also came with Symantec's Norton Anti-virus. The Washington Post (google: removing Symantec's Norton Anti - virus trial) refers to it this way: Norton Anti-virus - is a virus! Removing it is a nightmare. To insult our intelligence just a little bit more - Symantec will now sell us, SELL US Norton Anti-virus REMOVER.....this is much like zabasearch.com where they post information on how to find anyone in the world and now you can pay them $20 to remove all of your contact and personal information. More than just a little bit infuriating. sad.gif

Hi,

In doing some research, you can Download and run the Norton Removal Tool from this link: http://service1.symantec.com/Support/tsgen...39?OpenDocument

There does not appear to be a charge at that page for the software. unsure.gif

Additional information that I found helpful: http://basconotw.mvps.org/SymRem.htm

I can only laugh when I read your post, somewhere we all made the mistake to give out to much info. But with time we learn it is usually a good idea to google any sit before u sign up or give any valid info of yourself.

I sometimes wonder how many times Norton will try and defend there way of thinking, there product is a virus.
