Hello,

I am an expat living in Malta. I have been trying various different ways of getting UK TV channels over here. I am thinking that the hide my IP software with the premium service would allow me to do this.

I have seen from the program list that BBC iPlayer is supported, does anyone know about 4OD and iTV on demand?

I want to be sure before forking out all the cash for the software!

Cheers

I'm not familiar with the 40D and iTV programs. But if they are 3rd party applications you need to download in order to watch tv shows (regardless of the country) they may need to be put on our compatibility list in order to work with our Premium Service.

So I have bought the software, and I am so far very happy with the service.

Unfortunately 4oD (the same as iPlayer but from Channel 4) doesn't work. I have submitted the program to be looked into by the Hide My IP team, how long do these things take before they can crack it, and is it likely that they can achieve it? Also I couldn't find the .exe name for this file...

It can take anywhere from 3 to 5 business days for the programmers to review and approve /disapprove a program. Not having the .exe name can slow things down a bit. If you give me the URL for the website and the name of the program, I'll see if I can find the name for you.

Hi there, rolleyes.gif

Could anyone tell me if it is possible to use zattoo with the premium service?

For those who don't know, zattoo is a software program developed to watch TV streaming online.

I really appreciate your time.

Greetings from Spain.

You may want to read up on 3rd party applications at this link: http://www.hide-my-ip.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=68
and make a request to see if the software can be put on our compatibility list.

Hi,
This original post is over a month old now, I am guessing that the request was made online. Checking the compatibility list Zattoo is not list. When I was running a premium trial account I am sure I saw Zattoo listed. Has Zattoo been listed and removed? If not, is there a date on when Zattoo might be listed?

Thanks.

Zattoo has never been on the list and I do not believe that a request (using the link provided) has been made to put it on.

I don't get those requests, the programmers do. The email request form goes to them.

Hi Thanks for the quick reply.

I made a request for Zattoo on sunday or monday (cant remember exactly but was recently) so hopefully is in queue for the programmers to look at.

I did not receive any email confirmation or automated reply when I submitted the request using he link on your site however. How would I know if it has been approved or denied or was received? Thanks.

No confirmation is sent. Wait about 10 business days to see if the program shows up on the Compatibility list. If not, write to staff/hide-my-ip.com ( / = @) with the name of the program, the website and the executable. Request a status update.

4oD works fine on No-Ip.

Except - NOT at the moment because of no connectivity to the UK.

There is a knack for using it though. You hae to open the 4oD software first, them start No-Ip. Fro there its all systems go !!

Try the ITV streaming, Channel 4 streaming and BBC iPlayer.

Not many of the so called Premium IP proxy's are any use at all in the UK. It took me many atempts to find one that would stream at above 500kbs to support constant viewing.

Good luck

HI Bollidear, i had no problems at all watching any of the uk channels with the new uk address. all worked fine. may i suggest you look at your buffering and your connection speed. this may help.
Just one more point the itv service although it offers live streaming it disconnects after 2 hours of use so you have to reconnect to the site. this is presumably to stop third parties using the site for embedding the channels then selling their service to you.
BBC have the Iplayer but they will be changing the formatt of that soon to go live streaming too. Channel 4 has some problem with their current service so i expect they will soon find a better way of streaming too.
Just one more point im sure you have thought about this too. the grahics card you have. really you need one that is at least around 256mbs or better. for smooth video playback. Also if you have Vista you need at least 2gb of ram too.
also check that you have allowed the choosen programs like 4od and iplayer through your firewall.
I know this all sounds like easy stuff to do, but often its the simple things that stop it working properly.

Rather than live streaming, you can save the streaming video itself. And there's no DRM on the flash video file, so it's your to do as you wish when you wish. The quality is not as good as the DOWNLOAD button, but still watchable.

To save the streaming video as an FLV, you'll need software such as URL Snooper and OrbitDownLoader. To play the FLV, you'll need Adobe Media Player , VLC player etc.

That would be the way to go. There's free FLV players all over the internet and they are tiny.
