Having purchased my software in April 2009 to allow me to travel on extended holiday but to continue my internet/email communications that 'require' me to be based at home in the UK, I saw this as an ideal package.

The basic program appeared to work, but my Premium add-on which should allow me to specifically nominate the UK as my location has repeatedly displayed an error message right from Day 1. The message alert identifies a "Securesvr.exe" problem.

Numerous communications with your technical department confirmed that it was a 'known' problem and that your technical guys were working hard to resolve the issue.

However, communications 'dried up' on the 15th June. Has this problem been filed in the "All too Difficult" tray or am I likely to receive notification of resolution soon?

Meanwhile I am nearly half way through my annual subscription; your tech guys have, thankfully, suspended the demand for Premium service monthly payments until a solution can be found.

I would appreciate hearing of any progress on this matter.

In reviewing the emails sent to support, it appears you were in communication with one software engineer who asked you to speak with a senior engineer about the issue.

All of your emails have been replied to in a timely way. So at this point it is best to speak directly with an engineer.

That's a level of customer service that our competitors do not have.

SecureSrv.exe is a file located in Hide My IP installation directory:

C:\Program Files\Hide My IP 2009\SecureSrv.exe.

and can be noticed as a process in Task Manager (SecureSrv.exe. 5436 kB).

It is also a registered service in Window Services:

Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services > SecureSrv

1. Why this process continues running and is present in Task Manager when Hide My IP is stopped and not used? That is a load of 5 MB.

2. Why this service has no description in Windows Services? What exactly is its function?

3. What settings should be adjusted for this service, Automatic, Manual, Stopped, Started, or other?

Questions waiting for answers. unsure.gif

1. SecureSrv.exe continues to run after the application is exited because it is installed seperatly when HMIP is installed
It is installed as a windows service like other software. Many software applications use a service that is always running in the background. It does nothing when the software it not used. It is possible to make it not run when HMIP is running, but depending on yoru computer system, if you shut it down, then that could cause HMIP start and exit more slowly. If that process bothers you a lot, you can always shut it down through theTask Manager.

2. None was created for it
3. None
