CAUTION:
1. Never change any of the default connection and/or IP settings in any of your browsers. If you alter those settings than Hide My IP may not work. Hide My IP does not need your browser to look for any type of proxy setting.
2. Never install or run any other "hide IP" software while you have Hide My IP (any version) installed in your computer. To do so may make Hide My IP work incorrectly and we will not be able to assist you. You must uninstall any such software and reboot your computer before attempting any recommendations (below).
3.If you are using Firefox 3.0 (and above), you may need to install our plug-in. If you do not have the plug in, you can install it as follows:
a. click this link *in Firefox 3* to install the updated Plugin: http://www.hide-my-ip.com/hideip.xpi
b. If you cannot install it directly from Firefox, then save it somewhere on your computer, then:
- open Firefox,
- click "file" in Firefox
- Go to the the folder where you put the xpi,
- Drag the xpi onto the Firefox window
- If necessary, click the "install" button or It will install itself.
- Close out the Firefox browser.
4. If you're using any other approved browser no plug-in is necessary.
******************** If you are running v2007 or v2008 of Hide My IP ********************
1. Click the "Advanced Settings" button on the main Hide My IP window
2. Under "Enable Hide My IP For Selected Browsers":
a. make sure all browsers are selected (i.e. IE, Firefox, Netscape & Opera)
b. make sure "Enable Other Known Browsers" is selected
3. Click "apply"
4. Click "ok"
5. Close out all browsers
6. Open a new browser & check your IP at one of the links, below
If you already have all of the above selected, and your IP is not hidden, then:
1. Click the "Advanced Settings" button on the main Hide My IP window
2. Check the boxes Use Proxy Field Method for [Browser You Use]
3. Click "apply"
4. Click "ok"
5. Close out all browsers
6. Open a new browser & check your IP as per the below instructions.
******************** If you are running v2009 of Hide My IP ********************
1. Advanced Settings >>> Web Browsers >>> Under Enable Hide My IP For Selected Browsers, make sure "Enable Legacy Mode" is not checked. If it is, uncheck it, then click Apply & OK.
NOTE: All other boxes under Enable Hide My IP For Selected Browsers should be checked.
2. Advanced Settings >>> Web Browsers >>> Under Hide User Agent; make sure "Do Nothing" is checked. If not, check it, then click Apply & OK
3. Advanced Settings >>> Web Browsers >>> Under Hide Referrer Header; make sure "Hide My Referrer header" is not checked. If it is, uncheck it, then click Apply & OK
4. Advanced Settings >>> IP Address >>> Under IP Address Preferences; make sure "Encrypt My Connection" is not checked. If it is, uncheck it, then click Apply & OK
(If you have Cookie Crumble Software)
5. Advanced Settings >>> Cookie Crumble (Not In Trial Version) >>> Block My Cookies; make sure that "Block All Co0kies While Hide My IP" is not checked. If it is, uncheck it, then click Apply & OK (Note: Many websites require that you enable your browser to accept cookies)
******************** If you are running v5.0 of Hide My IP ********************
1. Main Window of Software
a. Click "Hide My IP" button to have software start hiding your IP address
b. "Quick Settings" are at your discretion
c. "Premium High Speed Service" should be checked "On" if you wish to use it, click "Off" if you do not wish to use it
d. If you do not have a subscription to the Premium Service or if you do not have the Gold Pass service, you will not see an area for the "Premium High Speed Service"
2. Advanced Settings >> General Tab >>
- IP Address Preferences >> "Use Smart Switch" must *always* be checked
- Obtain IP Addresses From >> Select either "Use Premium Service" (if you have it) or "Use Hide My IP Network" (if you don't have Premium Service)
3. Advanced Settings >> Supported Programs Tab >>
- Make certain that all browser types are checked
- "Enable Other Known Browsers" must *always* be checked.
- Select all 3rd Party Applications you are trying to use with Hide My IP and the Premium Service Subscription
4. Advanced Settings >> Cookie Crumble Tab >> (Use this field only if you have the Cookie Crumble software)
5. Advanced Settings >> Hot Keys Tab >> (Use this field only if you wish to create Hot Key shortcuts for Hide My IP functions)
6. Advanced Settings >> Advanced Tab >> (If you have not unlocked the tab then do not unlock it at this time)
- If you have unlocked the tab, and changed any settings, then please do the following:
a. Uncheck Encrypt My Connection
b. Uncheck Enable IP History
c. Uncheck Enable Legacy Mode
d. Under "Hide User Agent", make sure "DO Nothing" is checked.
e. Under "Hide Referrer Header" the box should NOT be checked.
e. Click Apply
f. Click "Hide Advanced Settings"
g. Click OK

CAUTION: Before visiting ANY website, you must be certain that the cookies from that website have been deleted from your computer! If you fail to do this, then your IP may still be hidden by the software, but the website will still know who you are because of the cookie they have dropped into your computer's browser operating system on a prior visit. To check if your IP is being hidden by the software, do the following:
1. Make sure your browser of choice is completely exited
2. Open Up Hide My IP. Allow it to find a faux IP address for you.
3. Once it has done that, then check your IP by going to: http://www.ipchicken.com

To make certain that your 3rd party application is being hidden with Hide My IP, please follow these directions:
(You must have a subscription to the Premium Service)
1. Left click "Advanced Settings" in the main window of the software
2. Left click the "Premium Service" (09 verion) or "Supported Programs" (5.0+ version) tab in the next window
3. Put a "check mark" in the box next to each 3rd party application you wish to use by double clicking that application
4. Left click "apply"
5. Left Click "OK"
6. Make sure that Premium Service is clicked "on" in the main window of the software
7. Select the country of choice from the drop down menu or select "random" (whichever you prefer)
8. Left click "Hide IP" in the main window of the software
Your IP should now be hidden while using the 3rd party applications that you had checked.
