Hello,
When you open Hide My IP you get the message:
"There was an error connecting to the Hide My IP database. Please check your connection to the Internet. This may be a temporary problem, please try again later."
There are several reasons why you may receive that message:
1. You are not connected to the internet. Verify your connection is working and click "Retry."
2. You are using a proxy server to access the Internet. If you require a proxy to be set in your internet browser in order to access the internet, you can not use Hide My IP.
3. Firewall software on your computer has blocked Hide My IP from accessing the Internet. Please update your firewall's settings and try again.
4. A bad spyware infection has severally slowed down your computer and is causing the connection to timeout. Remove spyware from your computer with tools such as AdWare.
5. The Hide My IP database is down do to technical error. While this happens very rarely it is a possible cause for the error. Wait 10-15 minutes and try again. If you continue to receive the error please contact support.
If none of the above fixes work for you please email support so we may troubleshoot your problem. Please take a screen shot of the "*Error Type" message that you receive.
To send a screen shot:
1. Press Print Screen (PrtScr) key
2. Go to Start > Run and type "mspaint" and click OK
3. Paste the screen by going to Edit > Paste
4. Save the image to your hard drive.
5. Once you have created the screen shot, email it to technical support with a complete description of the problem.
