Hello Forums:
Windows Update does not complete its "checking for the latest updates for your computer" part of the update process.
This is after I have shut down the hiding my IP program and exited.
The first time it went over 11 minutes untill I stopped it.
Question - Do I have to uninstall Hide My IP in order to update Windows ?
I am using updated Windows XP. And I am using Premium Hide My IP.

It would help to know if you're getting any type of an error code or "timed out" message. And if yes, what does it say.

What makes this one very odd is that you're not getting a timed out or error code message. If you're still having a problem, please write to staff/hide-my-ip.com ( / = @ ) so we can ask you some additional questions about your computer, etc.

People experience the "Connection Time Out" error when they don't have an updated version of the Microsoft platform that is in their computer.
Also, make sure that your IE version is up to date (Internet Explorer 7).
Problems with your Internet connection or firewall are other items that could be causing you problems connecting to auto update. Again, check your computer's configuration, Internet access and firewall settings.
Another possible reason is when the Microsoft servers are overloaded. This will be especially true if you have your system set to "auto update". I like to be notified when an update is available and see if *I* want to update the Microsoft software.
This issue can occur if one of the following conditions is true:
• You have spyware or malware running on the computer.
• You have viruses that are running on the computer.
• You do not have sufficient free space on the hard disk.
• You do not have sufficient random access memory (RAM) installed on the computer.
• You have corrupted or outdated drivers.
• You have too many files in the Recycle Bin or temporary folders.

I hope Clawjaw has found a resolution. I am having the same problem as you guys, with HMIp and Microsoft Update. I have outlined the issues I'm experiencing, in this thread:

1) Install Hide My IP
2) Run Regedit, export and saving (as #####.reg)this key:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\WinSock2\Parameters\Protocol_Catalog9]
3) When you need Windows Update, run LSPFIX and remove securenet.dll
4) After windows update, restore the #####.reg. Hide my Ip is now full again.
5) Dont need uninstall and install Hide My Ip, only restore a register key if need HMIP, or LSPFIX if need WU
Not the better solution, but work.
