I'm going to apologize up front for my ignorance. Please bear with me.

I just upgraded to FireFox 3. I've been using Hide My IP as a stand alone program for some time now (regular, not premium), mostly for file sharing when I am done browsing.

I just installed the plugin (link found here, thanks so much). I'm not sure at all how to work the plugin as the Options button is not clickable. I was hoping I would get an icon in my status bar or something? What's the use of having the plugin if I don't have access to it? / What exactly do I need to do to when I want to start hiding my IP for a specific program but not necessarily what I am currently browsing?

Thanks in advance!

If you cannot install the plug-in directly from Firefox, then save it somewhere on your computer.
Then, open Firefox, open the folder where you put the xpi, and just drag the xpi onto the Firefox window. It will install itself.

o no, its installed, I just have no idea how to use it *with* FF - I have only used it standalone (start Hide My IP, start my file sharing application, walk away). I just don't see how to use it inside FF.
Like, can I hide my IP with an application and 3 tabs but not be hiding in other tabs?

Thanks in advance!

Essentially, if the plug in is installed in Firefox 3, and you have Hide My IP activated and hiding your IP, then your IP should be hidden when browsing web sites with Firefox 3.

It is important you review this post:

If you are using game servers, IRC clients, P2P or torrent programs then we do not provide technical support for Hide My IP while those are in use. You will need to uninstall all such programs, and then we can review the situation to see if Hide My IP is working correctly without those programs.

Awesome Doug and thanks for the help! If I could take this time to request a feature, then it would be to have the option of having something in the status bar, so I can load the program up from there. Also, being able to take full advantage of the tabbed browsing and show/hide my ip on a tab per tab basis smile.gif

Thanks again for the patience with such a silly question!

Thank you for the suggestion and it will be passed along to the Level 2 Support 2 (programmers and techs).

When I need to browse websites with and without Hide My IP turned on, I turn on Hide My IP and then uncheck the Firefox broswer in advanced settings. Then I can use IE and hide my IP and I use Firefox at the same time and my IP is not hidden.
