PLEASE NOTE: This recommendation is *not* for the VISTA Microsoft Platform! This recommendation is only for those using Microsoft XP (or earlier supported versions).

If you are having an issue with either downloading Hide My IP or if you are receiving error messages indicating that you cannot connect to the database, then you need to find out if you have an earlier version of NET Framework in your computer.

If you have an earlier versions of Windows NET Framework and because of the age and/or type of Operating System you have on your computer you will need to download the *latest* version of the .NET Framework package from Microsoft.

Follow these instructions in order to best assist you:

1. Uninstall any Hide My IP program currently in your computer.
2. Uninstall all previous versions of .NET Framework in your computer (if you have them).
3. Reboot your computer
4. Download .NET Frame work v3.5 from this public link:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;displaylang=en
and click the "Download" button
5. After installation of that program, reboot your computer.
6. Download / install Hide My IP 2007 from this link: http://www.hide-my-ip.com/dlink.cgi
7. Insert the Key Code & you should be all set.

Just to let you know:

Loosely defined, .NET represents Microsoft's suite of computer programming languages (i.e. Microsoft Visual Studio.NET). You need the .NET framework if you wish to run software developed in Visual Studio.NET (i.e. VB.NET, C++.NET, C#.NET). The .NET Framework is an execution environment for Windows programs. It is available as an optional upgrade for any version of Windows after (but not including) Windows 95. Specifically, it can be added to Windows 98, NT 4.0, Millennium Edition, Windows 2000, and Windows XP.

Also, one last note:

If there is any uncompleted installation of .NET Framework, try to remove it by using .NET Framework cleanup tool described here: http://blogs.msdn.com/astebner/archive/200.../30/611355.aspx

Then try to begin installation again.
