Wikipedia Blocking IP's for "proxy or zombie" PC

QUOTE
"You are currently unable to edit pages on Wikipedia.

You can still read pages, but cannot edit, change, or create them.

Editing from [insert IP addresses here - which I removed] (your account, IP address, or IP address range) has been disabled by Spellcast for the following reason(s):

"This IP address has been blocked because it is believed to be an open proxy or zombie computer. To prevent abuse, these proxies may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. If your ISP has misconfigured its proxy, you can try bypassing it by logging into Wikimedia's secure gateway at https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/wiki/. For more information about open proxies and what you can do, please see the WikiProject on open proxies."

Something has got to be done about this.

Some websites have the ability to detect when an IP address is coming from a proxy server; or if that website has banned an IP, you may get a similar response to the one you've indicated.

To give you a limited example, if the ordering system on our website detects an IP address from you that is not in the same country as the strett address provided, the attempted purchase may get flagged for a manual review. Specifically, we note on our website "Please turn off Hide My IP or other IP hiding software before ordering, otherwise your order may be delayed."

If a website decides to invoke these kinds of security measures, there is little that can be done. Many banking web sites have similar safeguards.
