If that web site requires the viewer to download software in order to watch the TV programs, then you would need to make a request to have that software added to our Compatibility List.

Take a look at this post:

I too would like to be able to use this site. I don't believe it is a software issue. I get directed to a page with the following information when I try to use the site...

In order for you to use TVCatchup, it is necessary for your ISP to have a peering connection in place with our service provider, NetrinoUK Ltd. This is necessary to ensure optimum data flow across both your ISP's and our network and ensure latency is sufficiently low to enable uninterrupted video and audio streaming. The connection is free for both your ISP and us, takes a few minutes to set up, and only needs to be done once in order to allow all of your fellow customers to use our service for free.

The majority of UK ISPs have already taken the time to enable this connection, but there are a small minority that have either refused or ignored our requests to do so.

If you receive a message informing you that you are connecting from an un-supported ISP we encourage you to contact your provider and ask them to explain their decision not to support TVCatchup on their network.

Is this something that you can work with?

Thanks

Peering connections is not a popular methodology of connecting computer to server, at this time.
It is not something that we work with at Hide My IP.

Tvcatchup works for me - they have been fiddling about with their programme and occassionally it doesn't work but it's fine at the moment.

i've discovered that tvcatchup works for me too if using the program in legacy mode. i've no idea why but it does!
djwebster
no i hadn't modified or changed anything else. perhaps i should say that the only thing that doesn't work on the site when not in legacy mode is the video. i does start to load but then an error message comes up. thanks anyway!

Tvcatchup no longer works for me whether I'm in legacy mode or not.

Great pity as its a great service - what's even more concerning is that if TVcatchup can stop Hide My Ip then so can the BBC etc.

Update:

IE(8) still no longer works with Tvcatchup but oddly enough Firefox does.

i assure you nothing "can stop Hide My Ip". what has likely happened is that hmip has stopped the program, not the opposite.
you have to realize that when a script or program changes it in essence becomes no longer compatible.
software changes are then required to restore the compatibility.
when this happens, the programmers first have to decide if they want to fix the problem, if so, then a level of priority is issued.
things like routine maintenance "may" take priority over software modifications.
i doubt you would be happy if the ip network went down from a lack of maintenance.
research and development is always a factor when it comes to program changes.
i have no doubt that hmip staff tries to resolve incompatibility issues as quickly as possible.

some issues may require a little patience on the users part.....

I stand corrected.
I understand that TVcatchup are introducing a new desktop player shortly and it looks brilliant.
From what I understand of your post - once they have finalised their programme you will - when convenient - look into ensuring we can use the thing. Couldn't ask for more.
Thanks

If that desktop player is still in Beta testing, it is unlikely we'll add it to the Compatibility List.
But if you keep us informed when it is released as an authorized version, we'll review it and see what can be done.

It is now September 2009 and TVcatchup is well established and still prevents me from using it.
There is now http://www.tvguide.co.uk/ to be looked at (please, please, please) which has 'Watch' links below the channel names.

Both sites are brilliant for UK TV and both block me when using Hide My Ip - and both seem to share the same blocking system - They display the exact same logos when they say you have been blocked.

There are now numerous ways of watching UK Tv without having to change your IP but I'll stick with Hide My Ip as I use it to watch BBC iplayer. Although 4od no longer works for me .....

Please find a way to bypass Tvcatchup's and Tvguide's blocking system.

If you go to this link and look at their logo at the top of the page, it states that their system is still in Beta.
